The Solution: A Completely Customized Alexa Skill

At XalDigital we took on this challenge with enthusiasm. We developed a completely customized Alexa skill that transformed Grupo Brisas’ rooms into true intelligent spaces.

What can this skill do?

Guests can now control virtually everything in their room simply by talking:

  • Intelligent Lighting Control

Lights in different areas: shower, mirror, dining room, terrace, bedroom and bathroom

Natural commands such as “Turn off the bathroom light” or “Turn on the main light”.

  • Entertainment Management

Full TV control: power on, power off, channel change and volume adjustment

Commands such as “Switch to ESPN channel” or “Turn up volume to 20”.

  • Perfect Climate Control

Total control of air conditioning

Temperature settings with commands such as “Change temperature to 22 degrees”.

The Magic Behind the Commands

What makes this implementation special is how natural the interaction feels. Alexa not only executes commands, but has contextual conversations with guests:

“At what temperature would you like to set the air conditioning?”

“Which channel do you wish to tune in?”

“At what amount do you wish to turn the volume up or down?”

This functionality was achieved through the development of multiple custom intents and a slotting system that allows for flexible and natural commands, making every interaction feel like a fluid conversation.
